Tourism in South Africa is bolstering efforts to attract Indian travelers with major visa reforms, expansion of the mouse sector and debate on direct flight routes. These initiatives will be announced at the 2025 India Roadshow and will be held in Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai from March 18th to 20th. India remains a priority market for South Africa, with India's arrivals of 75,541 in 2024, indicating a strong post-pandemic recovery. The introduction of an electronic travel approval (ETA) system and a reliable tour operator scheme (TTO) streamlines visa applications, while ongoing consultations on direct flights aim to improve connectivity.

Mouse tourism is an important focus, with 49.6% of India's visitors in 2024 travelling for business, including 20.2% of mouse-related trips. Roadshow highlights South Africa's appeal for corporate events, incentive trips and luxurious retreats, backed by world-class venues and unique team building experiences. Additionally, due to the growing demand for luxury safari, family trips and adventure tourism, over 40 exhibitors, including nine SMMEs, will be able to see showcase-made travel products. As South Africa prepares for the G20 presidency in 2025, these tourism strategies aim to strengthen trade relations, enhance accessibility and promote sustainable growth in one of the most important source markets.
