Charter and wet leasing carrier Smartlynx Airlines will switch to a single type of fleet this year, focusing solely on the Airbus A320 family and reducing A321 freight operations.
We aim to achieve simplification by the middle of this year.
Smartlynx has rapidly expanded to 68 aircraft by the end of 2024, developing the A321-converted cargo fleet and the Boeing 737 Max operation.
The company has many individual airlines, including operators in Latvia, Estonia and Malta.
The Malta division operated the A321FS of Express freight company DHL through a partnership announced in 2021, but both sides reportedly cancelled the arrangement.
Smartlynx says there is a “partial” reallocation of assets within the broader Avia Solutions Group portfolio.
“We believe that this is the right time to make decisions to further strengthen our company in the long run, in order to maintain our growth and align with the group's strategic goals.”
“The industry we operate depends directly on market demand. Our business is shaped by industry needs and requires continuous adaptation to align with market dynamics.”
The Avia Solutions Group has revealed that it ordered up to 8 seconds of 40 737 last November. Its various operators consist of approximately 220 aircraft in total.
