SkyFive Arabia, a subsidiary of SCIT Group, and AITA (Africa for Information Technology and Aviation), have announced a new partnership to provide Egyptian Airlines with in-flight connectivity (IFC) services using Aerial Connectivity (A2G) technology.
The milestone represents a major step forward in regional aviation connectivity, according to the company.
Under this agreement, AITA provides IFC services to all Egyptian airlines and has been deployed throughout Europe for several years using SkyFive's A2G technology.
This technology provides easy, fast broadband connectivity for passengers and staff, changing the experience and operational efficiency during flight.
The company explained that Egypt is a prominent destination while the aviation industry is growing in the Middle East and Africa, but connections in flight remain severely limited due to associated costs and technology restrictions.
As a result, SCIT announced major regional investments through its technology subsidiary SkyFive Arabia to equip airlines with A2G technology.
The SCIT Group will use this investment to fund many strategic initiatives aimed at modernizing and expanding A2G infrastructure across the region, including Egypt.
It continued. “This will bring Egypt to the global map of adoption of the latest IFC technology and increase the asset value of equipped aircraft, but more than anything, the Egyptian aviation industry has already been using SkyFive technology to make it possible to use Global Tier One Airlines. It will be comparable to the company. Through Viasat's European Aviation Network.
“In addition, this will allow Egyptian airlines to remain connected in Europe through SkyFive/ViaSat roaming agreements.”
Discussions with major Egyptian Airlines over the implementation of the service are ongoing, with sign-offs occurring immediately according to the business.
The first commercial aircraft is expected to be ready to operate on international routes between Egypt and Saudi Arabia by the end of 2025.
“We're committed to providing a range of services to our customers,” said Mohamed Al Haddad, CEO of AITA. By deploying advanced A2G technology, it strengthens passenger experience and positions Egypt as a regional hub of innovation and connectivity.
