Singapore Airlines will abolish the remaining Boeing 737-800 by the end of March 2026.
In the fleet plan disclosed during the annual results briefing, Star Alliance operators confirm that the last four -800s will leave the fleet at the end of the lease.
Data from the Fleet Analytics Provider Cirium shows that these four jets are 9V -MGK, MGL, MGM, and -MGM, all in operational leases from Lessor Deucalion Aviation.
SIA has deployed -800 on short flights in nearby Malaysia and Thailand, as well as Kathmandu, Nepal, according to its schedule.
The airline inherited the -800 as part of a merger with the regional unit SilkAir.
Plans to replace the old narrow bodies with the Max 8S were affected by the latter grounding in 2019. Even after the grounding was released, production delays at Boeing were affected.
SIA's current fleet plan shows that in addition to the -800S exit, the mainline operator will deliver five up to 8 seconds.
Apart from the Max 8S, SIA will deliver two 787-10 this year, ending March 31, 2026. The low-cost unit scooter will see a significant increase in 15 new aircraft, consisting of five Airbus A320Neos, three A321Neos, four Embraer E190 E2s and three 787Ss.
Speaking at the May 16 briefing, Scoot Chief Lesley Thng said they are adopting delivery of these aircraft now as airlines have postponed several deliveries during the Covid-19 pandemic.
