For more than 33 years, Shenton Safaris has captured the hearts of travelers looking for extraordinary encounters in the breathtaking scenery of South Luangwa. Following a massive renovation of the Mwamba Bush Camp in 2024, the redesigned Numbu Star Bed offers guests the opportunity to sleep under the vast night sky of Africa in unparalleled comfort.
Eliminating Mwamba guests, Numbu Star Bed is the perfect add-on for those looking for a deeper connection to the wild, whether celebrating a special occasion or simply embracing the raw beauty of nature. Only a mosquito net separates you from the stars and promises an unforgettable, sensation-rich experience.
Set within the open savanna, just a 15-minute drive from Mwamba Bush Camp, the newly promoted platform spans two elegant levels.
Lower Deck: A cozy retreat with fire pits, dining tables and comfortable seating – perfect for sunbathing or private dinner when the sun sets across the plains. Upper Deck: Centerpiece – Beautifully appointed 4 poster beds covered with large mosquito nets, warmed with soft duvets and lanterns. Additional luxury include plumbed toilets, vanity and a freestanding outdoor bathtub.
For the safety and security of our guests, armed scouts and guides remain overnight in nearby Boma, constantly in contact with us via radio. Guests are encouraged to bring in personal items that are essential for the night under the stars, but other items will remain safe in the chalets in Mwamba.
