The Seychelles will make history from May 1st to 11th, 2025, as they will become the first African nation to host the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. Set on the untouched coast of Victoria in Mahe, the tournament features 16 international teams, including Brazil, Portugal, Italy and African champion Senegal, featuring global broadcasts that are expected to put the island in the international spotlight. With approximately 3,600 visitors expected, the event offers an important opportunity for African travel agents to promote a specialized package that combines sports and island tourism.
Supported by the Union of African Football (CAF), the event illustrates Africa's growing role in international sports. In the case of the Seychelles, the tournament is expected to increase the chances of long-term sports tourism supported by sound infrastructure and over 6,300 hotel rooms. African travel experts are suitable for designing tiered travel packages with international flights, interisland excursions, beach sports and cultural experiences. With occupancy rates at just under 57%, availability remains robust and agents can raise strong margins across their budgets into luxurious segments during this milestone sporting event.
