Living with natural wildlife is the central spirit of the eco-centric real estate Serenity Hills, where three rescued porcupines have recently benefited from a rewild project. This release was directed by Estate Manager Ryne Ferguson. He says that all animals thrive in this healthy coastal environment.

“We successfully released Bushbuck and Grey Duker in mid-January. This release went smoothly and discovered Bushbuck near Serenity Hills Clubhouse. “In February, we received an urgent call from Freem Wildlife about the need to release three Cape Porcupines captured by farmers in cabbage patches. We arrived the next day. We were able to release all three on the property.

Serenity Hill joined Green Custodianship through Freeme Wildlife, aligning the property with the “Hope of Hope” Green Custodian Program. Through this affiliation, rehabilitated wildlife can be released into the real estate, contributing to the overall real estate conservation efforts.

“We have some Cape Porcupines in the property, but we felt that these three guys could definitely accommodate them.

5 Fast Facts About Cape Yamachi

    2. When threatened, the porcupines build quills and return them towards the predators (they don't stain there!).

    3. Porcupines eat roots, bulbs and bark, and often ring trees to open forests in the savanna.

    4. Sharpen the bone gnaw and teeth for the dolphin.

    5. It can actively live in up to six burrows at once.
