The partnership with the visa is poised to play a key role in strengthening Senegal's financial sovereignty, reducing the informal economy, improving transparency, promoting local innovation, and thus making a significant contribution to the country's digital future.

In a move to accelerate Senegal's digital and financial change, Digital Minister Arion Sall held a strategic meeting with a high-level visa delegation led by the vice president and director general of Western and Central Africa (Francophone and Rusophon). The conference held yesterday is a key step in the country's ambitious #NewDealTechnology initiative, aiming to position Senegal as a hub for financial and digital innovation.

Visa, a global leader in payment technology in over 200 countries, has been active in Senegal since 2001, working with local banks, fintechs, telecom operators and national authorities to modernize the financial system and enhance financial inclusion.

To support Senegal's new technology deal, Visa plans to significantly strengthen its presence in the country. This expansion includes expanding the scope of services and introducing cutting-edge payment technologies. There are several important purposes.

Supporting digital payment infrastructure: Supporting states in increasing public services use by citizens, managing costs and modernising through digital payment solutions. Expanding acceptance points: Increase the number of stores nationwide that accept visa card payments. Facilitate contactless and mobile payments: Promote the adoption of the latest and convenient payment methods. Financial Education: Supports initiatives to educate consumers on the many benefits of electronic payments. Working with local innovators: Working with Senegale startups and fintechs to develop innovative solutions tailored to the unique needs of local markets.

The strategic discussion ended with a concrete agreement between the parties.

Establishment of a joint working group: A dedicated team will be formed to explore the path of collaboration on prioritized projects identified within new trading technologies. Accelerated deployment of Visa Solutions: From identifying the first pilot project, efforts will be made to facilitate the deployment of Visa Solutions.

The partnership with the visa is poised to play a key role in strengthening Senegal's financial sovereignty, reducing the informal economy, improving transparency, promoting local innovation, and thus making a significant contribution to the country's digital future.
