Visit Stellenbosch has announced that he has been appointed as the new CEO of Annemie Liebenberg. Liebenberg will replace Jeanneret Momberg, who served as CEO until October 2024, and will take over Elmarie Rabe, CEO and current marketing manager who has been skillfully leading the organization during the transition period.
As Stellenbosch's official destination marketing organization, the Stellenbosch team focuses on promoting tourism, growing the local economy, creating jobs, cultural heritage, culinary excellence, museums, galleries, wineries and celebrating world-class tourist experiences in South Africa's second oldest town.
It's a dynamic space and is perfect for Liebenberg. Liebenberg brings over 17 years of expertise in strategic tourism marketing, stakeholder collaboration and leadership across South Africa's major tourist destinations. She is known for her proven track record in developing commercially successful, sustainable promotion initiatives, supporting the local economy, and managing crisis-sensitive programs.
Liebenberg was previously a marketing manager as a former tourism consultant for Cape Town and a marketing and communication consultant for the Street Club on Friday. He was the head of tourism, public relations, customer service, and tourism, communications and customer service at Cape Town's V&A Waterfront.
Among her career highlights are the development of Cape Town's sustainable tourism strategy embedded in the Western Cape Education sector curriculum, and the management of programs and influential partnerships at the local, national and international levels. Liebenberg is a former board member of the Cape Town Route Unlimited and is the predecessor of the Western Cape Department of Tourism, Trade and Investment Promotion (Wesgro).
Michael Ratcliffe, co-founder and chairman of the Stellenbosch visit, was warmly welcomed the booking.
