Starting May 1, 2025, longtime Group Expo member and SATIB board member Kevin Watson will step into the role of managing director. Cillie continues to be involved with Satib in her advisory capabilities, pursuing new opportunities.
This transition occurs when African tourism is facing an increasingly complex risk landscape. New digital threats such as extreme weather events, changing regulatory requirements, operational liability, and cybercrime affecting online bookings are changing the way businesses approach risk management.

Working with SATIB Board for 16 years, previously serving senior roles at IFA Hotels & Resorts and SATSA in the Tourism sector, and at the board level of many African insurance policies, Watson brings extensive experience providing Satib's long-standing commitment to providing professionally driven insurance solutions specialized in the African tourism sector. His leadership demonstrates opportunities for growth while maintaining a continuity of service excellence.

His instrumental role in strengthening client advocacy at pivotal moments such as the Covid-19 crisis highlights his commitment to SATIB and the broader industry in which it can serve. “The entire Satib team is truly grateful to Dewald for his valuable contributions over the years and wishing every success in his future efforts,” concludes Watson.
