The Rwandan government has revealed plans to implement tourism taxes to support the development of the sector. Taxation during the period of stay was paid by tourists, paid at 3% of the total hotel room fee, and was approved by the Rwandan Cabinet on February 10 amid several tax policy reforms.
The Cabinet's statement on the change did not specify when the proposal would come into effect, but argued that reforms would be adopted before the end of Rwanda's fiscal year 2024/25.
