Forget about the cozy local candlelight dinner and quiet drinks. Almost half of the British say they stand up to jump on the plane for the date. That's right – extreme day trips abroad are the latest love trends to clean your country.
According to a new study by experts at Moneysupermarket, 43% of Britons consider spurting on an adventurous 24-hour trip, and many do it in the name of romance.
With no bargain tickets, no hotel costs and luggage remaining at home, the couple narrows down the whirlwind escape every day and loves every minute. Google has increased 10,000 people since January by searching for this one-day trip trend.
In addition to that, there are 15,000 global searches for dating abroad. That's obvious. Dating in the UK is international.
Adventure and open passport
Over a third (34%) of those who received the polls say the idea of flying or riding a train for a date brings pulse. One in five (20%) suggests a different country per date. And for some, romance isn't that exciting at home. One in six (16%) say the most thrilling dating experiences happen outside the UK.
So where are the British heading for love? France has won top spots (26%) in overseas date destinations, followed by Sunny Spain (17%) and Greece (15%), the best postcards.
But it's not just about the destination – it's also about what you do when you get there. One in five (20%) prefer activity-based dates, and one-third (34%) say it's the best way to find out who.
Spontaneity is attractive
This data reveals exactly what will turn on the latest dates. Almost a quarter (23%) ranked spontaneity as the most desirable trait in partners.
“We've seen a lot of money and we've seen it,” said Alicia Hempsted, Moneysupermarket expert.
“We found that there was a 25% increase in travel insurance inquiries per quarter this year compared to the same period last year.
“It's clear that love is getting far away.”
So, if you're bored of the same old dating scene, it may be time to grab your passport and stuff it for your passion.
