Located on the southern coast of Kwazulu-Natal, the adventures of Kwaxolo Caves have undergone a R8 million expansion to enhance its heritage and appeal as an adventure tourism destination. Located near Margate, South Bloom and Port Edward, the site is known for its Sunrock art and dramatic canyon landscapes. Leading by Kwazulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority and Tourism and Tourism The project aims to boost rural tourism by adding new adventure activities such as multi-purpose facilities, improved infrastructure and 1.06 km zip line and high-wire bridge.
Phase 1 of the expansion was completed in January and features important visitors infrastructure such as reception areas, routes and pedestrian bridges over wetlands. Ongoing Phase 2 will showcase restaurants, coffee shops, picnic sites and play areas for kids. With phase 3 plans that include luxury chalets and amphitheaters, the development will provide important investment opportunities while supporting local employment and skill development. The project highlights the region's potential as a growing tourism hub and demonstrates the economic benefits of sustainable tourism investment.
