Qatar Airways and Kenya Airlines have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at expanding air connectivity between East Africa and the Middle East. The agreement includes a codeshare arrangement in which Qatar Airways will launch its third daily flight between Doha and Nairobi, and Kenya Airlines will operate direct flights between Mombasa and Doha, which Qatar Airways sells, starting in the winter season. Passengers will benefit from strengthening connectivity across the networks of both carriers through the Doha and Nairobi hubs.
Beyond passenger services, the collaboration explores joint opportunities across freight operations, loyalty programs, maintenance and procurement. The agreement is based on Qatar Airways' long-standing existence in Kenya, marking 20 years of service to the country and is consistent with Kenya Air's continued business recovery strategy. The move is expected to support tourism and trade growth across East Africa and strengthen Africa's importance in the global aviation network.
