Qantas has announced the addition of two new international routes to its growing global network. Direct flights from Perth to Auckland and Johannesburg are scheduled to begin in December 2025*.
These new services increase Australian connectivity across Qantas's large international and national network, and now spans more than 100 destinations around the world.
Reservations are currently open on both routes, contributing to the continued growth of Qantas' western hub. The new service will travel over 155,000 seats to and from Perth each year, supporting local job creation and boosting inbound tourism to Western Australia.
These flights will be made possible through federal funds allocated to Australia's border forces and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. The funding will allow Perth Airport to expand its staffing, equipment and facilities to increase its border and biosecurity capabilities and secure a path to more international flights.
The new routes will also improve global connectivity for passengers traveling between New Zealand, South Africa and the wider Qantas and partner airlines.

Both routes operate three times a week on Qantas A330 aircraft.

Perth – Johannesburg (QF65): Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday | ~11 hours 15 minutes*

“Strengthening capacity at Terminals 3 and 4 is an important step that will enable Qantas to grow operations in Washington, preparing for its move to a new terminal at Airport Central in 2031.”
Additional international network updates
Qantas will introduce the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on its Brisbane-Los Angeles route from October 2025, offering daily flights, and including premium economy will significantly increase premium seats availability for Queensland travelers.
During the peak travel seasons in December 2025 and January 2026, Qantas and American Airlines will adjust their schedules according to demand.
Qantas operates four Brisbane-Los Angeles Dreamliner Flights each week.
American Airlines operates three services per week on the same route.
Qantas will increase its Melbourne and Dallas Dreamliner services every day at the same time.
Starting in February 2026, Qantas will resume daily flights between Brisbane and Los Angeles.
As part of Qantas Group's dual brand strategy, Jetstar will finish its Sydney and Honolulu routes after its final flight on October 24, 2025. Jetstar's Boeing 787 will be reassigned to Asia, with Qantas complementing the Sydney-Honolulu route to flights over the last six to six years.
Additionally, Qantas' final Airbus A380 will return to service in January 2026, operating Sydney-Dallas-Fort Worth Flights daily, offering more premium seating options (first, business, and premium economy) on the route.
