P&O Cruise passengers warned to leave three items at home | Cruise | Travel

P&O Cruises has created the UK's largest cruise line and the UK's largest cruise ship, P&O Arvia. Of the thousands of passengers traveling on board the ship, many may not know all the items not permitted on board. The Southampton-based British cruise line says that prohibited items brought on board can be forfeited without guaranteeing returns.

Security screenings for both passengers and luggage will take place at each port, with prohibited items being confiscated, Cruise Line said. Three important prohibited items are weapons and dangerous objects, illegal drugs and controlled substances, but there are also restrictions on alcohol that appear at sea.

Guests over the age of 18 are permitted to carry up to 1 liter of wine or champagne, but alcohol like spirit is strictly prohibited.

Wine and champagne brought by passengers may be subject to a £20 corkage fee if consumed in a dining room, bar or lounge.

What many passengers probably don't realize is that they must be declared free by the cruise line at the port and stored free by the cruise line as they are not permitted to drink it on the ship.

Other restrictions apply to electrical equipment with aerosols, flammable liquids, batteries, and heating elements.

Only personal deodorizers are permitted. There are no other aerosol cans. Light liquids are prohibited, but small personal writers for smokers are permitted.

Most large batteries are prohibited, but you can have small batteries for cameras and medical devices.

Devices such as hair dryers and straighteners are permitted, but other heating appliances are not permitted.

The Safety and Security web page states: “Due to ship safety and security is paramount, it is prohibited to carry certain items onto the ship.

“A security screening for you and your baggage will be done every time you board a ship. If you own any of the items listed below, they may be forfeited forever.

“This list is not exhaustive and other items may be rejected at the discretion of the port or ship security staff.”
