A tragic accident occurred at the West Coast Air Show held at Saldana Airfield in South Africa's Western Cape on Saturday, killing the pilot. The aircraft involved was the Impala, carrying the registered Zu-Imp.
The Accidents and Incident Investigation Department (AIID) confirmed the fatality, saying that Sisa Majola, a spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority of South Africa (SACAA), was gathering preliminary information along with the event's safety officials.
Crash sites are secured and AIID will determine if a public update is required as the investigation progresses.

In another incident, AIID is also investigating a collision of another aircraft in Van Wiksdope, Western Cape. The Beech Bonanza (with registered ZS-FFG) went down during a private scenic flight from the Mossel Bay Airfield, carrying one pilot and two passengers. The injured did not last, but the aircraft was seriously damaged.
