China Airlines will begin flights to Phoenix in December as it continues to expand its North American network.
The three-week flights run by the Airbus A350-900S will make the Taiwanese carrier Phoenix's first Asian operator. Arizona's capital is the seventh point for China Airlines in North America.
The flight is non-stop from Taipei to Phoenix, but in Los Angeles it becomes a technical stopover on the way back to Taipei.
After the flight to Phoenix begins, China Airlines will leverage its newly signed codeshare partnership with Southwest Airlines. Low-cost US operators count within Phoenix's operational hub, flying over 50 points.
China Airlines will develop dialogue arrangements for passengers to transfer from Phoenix to “more than 30 inland American cities.”
Separately, the airline has announced its intention to increase flights to New York after announcing its move to a new terminal under development at JFK Airport. China Airlines in early July signed an agreement to officially change the shift after the terminal was opened in 2026.
Compatriot EVA Air, Korea Air, Air France-KLM, Air China and more, are the latest carriers with an increasing number of carriers moving to terminals.
