Are you craving Caribbean flavours without breaking your bank? One parent may have perfect budget friendly recommendations for you.
“The Travel Mum” previously took him to Tiktok and shared his love for what is called the “Caribbean of Europe.” Boasting a stunning coastline and vibrant cultural spots, this hidden gem offers a good vacation for both children and adults.
Even better, she points out that although prices may vary from season to season, certain airlines can return and travel for just a small “£30” of “£30”.
“Okay, so you can see where the comparison of the Caribbean came from, with the most beautiful crystal clear blue sea, white sand, and even the naughty piggy of the beach. We spent two weeks exploring this beautiful island by car and boat.
“We went on this road trip with our 5-year-old son, a 12-week-old baby and my parents.”
Sardinia is a picturesque island located west of the Italian Peninsula and just north of Tunisia. Offering a spectacular bay and secluded coves, it features Spiagear Rosa, Italy's only pink sandy beach.
If that's not enough, mainland Italy and Sicily, house one of Europe's most active volcanoes, have easy access to day trips. Travel Mom embarked on her trip in July and used her Avios points to secure a £175 British Airways flight for her family of four, from London Gatwick to Cagliari.
However, she highlighted the benefits of traveling off-peak for more affordable accommodation and airfares. For example, she reportedly discovered return fares ranging from £30 to £60 in October, referring to budget airlines such as EasyJet and Ryanair.
Currently, Ryanair advertises last-minute return tickets between £30 and £51 in early April 2025, but these prices are subject to fluctuations.
It is also worth noting that Sardinia has three major airports, with Cagliariel Mass being the largest and most southern. In contrast, both Olbia Costa Smeralda and Argelofaltilia airports are further north.
Travel Mum's holiday itinerary was packed with activities such as four nights at Nora, four nights at Mori Family Village, two nights at Cala Gonone and three nights at Golfo Aranci. The family then spent their last night in Cagliari before heading home the next day.
She revealed that one of the highlights of her trip was a boat tour in Ramaddalena, north of Sardinia. Prices included lunch and drinks and the boat was not overly crowded.
According to her holiday blog, the overall trip costs less than £1,800 for a family of four, which amounts to around £128 per day. “To be honest, there was something for everyone,” she continued with Tiktok.
“There's a lot of delicious Italian food, Caribbean coastline and great places to explore, so there's no doubt that you'll need to save this post and add Sardenia to your bucket list.”
In the caption, she added:
“The combination of gorgeous islands, white sandy beaches and delicious Italian food is a winner for me.”
