The Airbus Foundation and the Solar Impulse Foundation have launched a three-year partnership to accelerate sustainability through aerospace technology and nature-based solutions.
The initiative uses Airbus' satellite data and aerial assessment tools to support innovative projects tackling environmental challenges. The selected project will receive 10,000 euros with seed funds and expert support.
“By combining aerospace technology with nature-based solutions, innovation can be transformed into impact,” says Bertrand Piccard, initiator and chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation. “We're looking forward to seeing you in the air,” said Julie Kitcher, Airbus Chief Sustainability Officer and Chairman of the Airbus Foundation. “Aerospace technology allows us to unlock information about planets that are not accessible from the ground. We are committed to empowering innovators and researchers to develop solutions that promote environmental and social challenges using the expertise of satellite and helicopter Airbus.”
The collaboration aims to increase climate resilience, restore ecosystems and promote sustainable policy changes. Starting April 1st, proposals for projects that utilize aerospace capabilities to address global environmental and social issues will be accepted.
