Ondo State is stepping up efforts to establish itself as a key destination in Nigeria's tourism strategy, with Governor Lucky Adatiwa outlines a set of investment incentives to attract tourism stakeholders. At the 2025 Annual Meeting (NATOP) of the Nigeria Tour Operators Association (NATOP) at AKURE, AIYEDATIWA highlighted the climate of a new investment policy aimed at developing infrastructure, improving air and road access, and strengthening the state's diverse tourism assets.
Access to the region is being strengthened by projects that include double roadways connecting major cities with the Lagos Calabar Highway, but the three airlines already operate the routes in Akure. The governor has encouraged private sector participation, particularly in hospitality development, and has positioned Ondo as the first campaign opportunity in expanding Nigeria's domestic tourism economy.
