Scandinavian budget career Norwegian agreed to buy 10 Boeing 737-800 jets that were leased.
Norwegians expect to achieve non-repeated profits of approximately NKR570 million ($51 million) from the transaction, and will fund them through cash and long-term financing.
It said this reflects the reduced prices and lease liability that could be secured for the jet.
The airline also believes the acquisition will result in annual cost savings (finance costs) of approximately NKR 200 million.
“This transaction represents a key step in increasing asset ownership to secure the company's future fleet, increase economic flexibility and support long-term operational and strategic growth.”
Norwegians expect trading to close in the first quarter of this year.
We have not identified any particular aircraft involved in the acquisition.
However, CEO Geir Karlsen said: “The aircraft being acquired are an integral part of Norway's existing fleet and will continue to operate across an attractive and growing network of routes through this agreement.”
Norwegians say they are “committed to careful management” regarding their balance sheets and “continue to explore opportunities to optimize the composition of their fleet.”
