Nigeria's National Travel Agency (NANTA) has announced new digital platforms, including redesigned websites, mobile applications and updated identification cards, as part of a wide range of efforts to modernize its business. Presented at Nanta's 49th Annual Meeting (AGM) in Lagos, these tools are designed to improve access to services, enhance member verification and enhance public trust across Nigeria's travel trade. With the theme of “group prosperity through market protection,” AGM brought together aviation, tourism and government stakeholders to highlight the sector's commitment to sustainable growth.
An important issue addressed at the event was the enduring challenge of cross-border ticket sales. International travel agents will be diverting offshore revenue while selling outbound tickets from Nigeria. Nanta President Yinka Folami confirmed ongoing investigations into several international organizations and warned of legal consequences against criminals and conspiring local agents. The association's stance, supported by the Federal Aviation Ministry, emphasizes a strong push for enforcement, transparency and protection of Nigeria's formal travel industry in the broader African tourism landscape.
