KINGSTON, JAMAICA – Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett says the implementation of a visa waiver for visitors from the Dominican Republic to travel to Jamaica will streamline the travel process and promote greater cultural and economic exchanges between the two island nations.
The exemption comes into effect on February 4th, for visits for up to 180 days.
“This visa exemption represents our commitment to breaking down barriers to inter-Caribbean travel by creating more interconnected areas,” Bartlett said. “By promoting easier movements between our countries, we are opening the door to new tourism opportunities that benefit both destinations, from cultural exchanges to greater economic benefits.”
The Dominican Republic government had urged the Jamaican government to previous visits to lift visa restrictions.
