McAllen, Texas (AP) – Adults fighting children for clean water, disappointing toddlers and swollen children have refused a medical checkup.
The family shared testimony with immigration advocates who are suing to prevent the Trump administration from terminating the Flores settlement agreement.
The agreement could challenge President Donald Trump's family detention clause to “big and beautiful” tax credits and cuts in spending.
“As Congress is considering funding the indefinite detention of children and families, defending Flores' settlement is more urgent than ever,” said Mishan Waugh, a senior immigration lawyer at the National Center for Youth Law.
Center supporters, and the Human Rights Constitution Center, Infringement and Child Rights, the children contacted or visited and their families were detained in two Texas Family Detention Centers. Daily and KearnsIt resumed earlier this year.
The terms of the family detention facility remained private until an immigration lawyer filed a motion to oppose it in California federal court.

Faisal Al-Juburi, chief foreign manager at Raices, said on Friday that the conditions “just help strengthen the important needs of transparent and enforceable standards and accountability measures.”
One family member with a juvenile with cancer said they missed the appointment of a doctor after attending an immigration court hearing. He is currently experiencing recurrence symptoms, according to the movement. Another family member said he lost eight pounds (3.6 kilograms) during his custody for one month, nine months.
The children spoke openly about their trauma during a visit to the Legal Monitor, which includes a 12-year-old boy with blood conditions. He reported that his feet were too inflamed to walk, and despite seeing doctors he was denied further testing. Now he's almost off his feet. “It hurts when I walk,” he said in a court declaration.
The arrest has left psychological traumatized. The mother of a three-year-old boy saw the agent enter the babysitter's house with a gun and began behaving differently after being detained. She said he now throws himself on the ground, hurts himself, and refuses to eat most days.
Concerns are growing as ice strengthens operations
Many of the families in detention already lived in the United States, reflecting a recent shift from immigrant arrests at the border to internal operations.

The Future of Flores' Unconsensual Detention
The Flores Agreement states that Trump's laws are ” One big beautiful bill act ” allows for indefinite detention of immigrant families who pass their current language, but this is not permitted under the Flores Agreement.
Trump's law, approved by the House, also proposes to secure $45 billion in funding and triple spending increase over the next four years to expand ice detention for adults and families. The Senate is currently considering its law.
