Controlled by Nepal billionaire Binod Chaudhary, CG Hospitality has signed an agreement with Marriott International to convert the Philippine Wellness Centre, known as the Farm of San Benito, into a Sign Collection Resort.

Batangas province’s property, south of Manila, will be the first Sign Collection resort managed by Marriotts in the Philippines. It will open at the end of the third quarter, and the company said in a joint statement without clarifying the value of the contract.

“We are a timely and strategic entry for us as well as well as well as well as well as well as being a key driver of travel decisions,” said Rajev Menon, president of the Asia-Pacific, excluding China at Marriott International. “The Philippines has grown in reputation as a rich natural beauty and a rejuvenation destination, providing an ideal environment for sign collections.”

The rebranding farm to San Benito’s Marriott Sign Collection comes nine months after Chowdhary agreed with MegaWorld Corporation, the real estate developer of Philippine billionaire Andrewtan.

Megaworld and CG Hospitality will build a low-density wellness community with residential apartments, hotels and shops, along with 25 hectares of lush green sports and leisure amenities in Lipa City, a 90-minute drive from the capital, 85km south of Manila. San Benito Private Estate offers access to San Benito’s farm, as it is called the Project.

Spanning 52 hectares, San Benito’s farm, converted to a Sign Collection Resort, features 70 keys, one-bedroom villas and exclusive two-bedroom private pool villas.

The strategic partnership with Marriott will set new benchmarks for wellness hospitality in the region, said Chaudhary, global chairman of CG Corp. The brand resort features five restaurants, a swimming pool with a bar, a fully equipped fitness centre, a quiet spa and a medical wellness centre. The resort also accommodates business and social gatherings with a planned 321 square metres of flexible meeting and event space.

Chaudhary’s CG Hospitality owns a portfolio of over 190 facilities with over 12,000 rooms in 12 countries. He also holds stakes in Nepal-based privately owned Nabil Bank and CG Foods, a maker of waiwai instant noodles. His net worth is $2 billion and Chaudhary is Nepal’s only billionaire.
