Known as one of the most beautiful things in the world, Greece's stunning beaches were named in April this year in the top 10 list of the least crowded beaches. Myrtos has long been called one of Kefalonia's main attractions and is considered one of Greece's most beautiful beaches.
Located about 29km north of Argostoli, the beach is semicircularly shaped and surrounded by picturesque white rocky cliffs. Kefalonia's Myrtos Beach is on the list of Wizz Air on this Easter Holiday overcrowded beach, following an analysis of over 50 European countries. The airline estimated the space provided by each beach, combined data with temperature and weather conditions to give each location an overall score of 50.
Myrtos was given a score of 30.7, finishing sixth. The beach has received many awards over the years and has recently been named one of the “best beaches” at the TripAdvisor Travelers Choice Awards.
On the travel website, the following is what Myrtos, who came in 10th place: “With mountains, Myrtos Beach is a perfect scenic spot for a peaceful beach day. You'll either soak in the cobalt blue waters or snorkeling, rarely chewing at a nearby coffee shop.
Visitors describe the beach as one of the most beautiful things, dubbing it in reviews dubbing it as “pictured perfect” and “somewhat off the beaten path.”
Others who called Myrtos a “must see” said “the photo is not just that,” explaining that the water is warm, clear and sparkling in a “smashing shade of blue and green.”
You can rent sunbeds on the beach, enjoy food and drinks from the beach bar, or dive into one of 18 restaurants within a 3-mile radius. Tourists can also take boat tours to explore the island and its caves and try local food and wine.
The beach is accessible from steep roads, allowing visitors to enjoy the views and see the stunning sunsets on their way home.
Known for its beautiful turquoise and deep blue colour, the water tends to settle in the morning, so visitors are encouraged to head early when they are likely to secure parking. Myrtos also has changing rooms and toilets.
Myrtos Beach, which ranked number one on the Wizz Air list, was Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, followed by Playa Danbosa in Ibiza, Spain. Both scored 36.7.
