Namibia aims to increase direct tourism employment from 57,000 to 80,000 by 2030 under the proposed National Spatial Development Master Plan. The plan, led by the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, is part of Vision 2030 and is designed to disperse tourism flows beyond frequently visited sites such as Etosha National Park and Sossusvlei by unlocking possibilities across all 14 regions.
This strategy focuses on identifying untapped tourism areas, promoting investment and promoting community engagement through cultural and conservation-based products. With 42 active community reserves, the plan supports inclusive growth by integrating local heritage experiences. Currently in the final review phase, the plan is set for staged implementation starting in 2025 and is operated through a three-year rolling strategy within the 10-year framework.
