Mozambique is currently requiring travelers in 29 visa-free countries to obtain an electronic travel approval (ETA). This online process must be completed at least 48 hours before departure.
Mozambique announces new measures for citizens of 29 visa exemption countries. You will be required to present an approved ETA upon arrival.
On April 24, 2025, Mozambique's National Immigration Agency issued an official notice explaining that these visa-waiver travelers must register online at least 48 hours prior to their trip.
According to the authorities, this obligation stems from Article 4 of the Order. Based on the outbreak of visa-free travel for citizens of 29 countries on 31 March 2023, 10/2023, “it is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen border control, ensure national security and promote order and regular tourism.”
This previously optional form of electronic travel is now necessary for legal entry into Mozambique.
Mozambique ETA: Online registration and payment upon arrival
To obtain an ETA in Mozambique, travelers must register via the official platform at www.evisa.gov.mz. This process involves submitting personal information, passport details, and details about your planned stay.
Although it is not a visa application, this registration acts as a legal pre-trip notice and is essential for approving your entry. Once approved, the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) can be downloaded from the portal minutes after your application is confirmed. This document is valid for 60 days from the date of approval.
Upon arrival in Mozambique, visa-free travelers will be required to pay a 650 Mozambican Metica (MZN) administrative fee equivalent to 9 euros or 10 USD payable in either local currency or in foreign currencies recognized by Mozambican authorities.

29 countries covered by Mozambique's ETA requirements
Mozambique immigration authorities have highlighted the importance of strict compliance with this new regulation. Failure to register or pay the required fee will be interpreted as an implicit rejection of the entry. This could result in denied boarding at the departure airport or denied entry when you arrive at Mozambican airport or border intersections.
Since May 1, 2023, tourists and business travelers from 29 countries have been permitted to obtain a Mozambique visa for up to 30 days, with the possibility of extending their stay once within the country and an additional 30 days.
Currently, ETA requirements apply to citizens from the following 29 countries traveling to Mozambique:
