Flight Centre Travel Group has appointed FCM Mummy Maphojang GM in South Africa and South African corporate traveler GM Herman Horns.

Mafojane joined FCM in 2014 as a travel manager, steadily increasing his ranks, holding key positions such as area leaders and productive operations leaders.

In her new role, she expands the relationship between FCM and its clients, focusing on customer relationships, and expands data-driven insights.

Mafojane emphasized the evolution of corporate travel in South Africa and establishing a balance between innovative digital solutions and traditional service models.

“Our customers are increasingly tech-savvy. They want a seamless and efficient booking experience that makes their lives easier. Our goal is to leverage technology in ways that enhance the customer experience rather than replacing the human element.”

Mafojane will step into her new role on April 1st.

In his new role, Heunes will focus on innovation, operational excellence, and customer-first business travel solutions tailored for small and medium-sized businesses.

“As someone who has been fine-tuning operational efficiencies and strengthening customer service delivery over the years, I am excited to build on this momentum. My experience has helped businesses understand what travel partners need: seamless support, cost-effective solutions, and a proactive approach to evolving travel demand.”

Heunes is committed to ensuring increased personalization, efficiency and cost management while helping small businesses optimize their travel programs.

He starts in his new role on April 1st, taking over Bonnie Smith. Bonnie Smith will transition to a new leadership position in the UK corporate traveler.

    Tourvest's new Afro-Asian Division MD

Tourvest has appointed Akona Mdlulwa MD of Singapore Airlines GSA, Afro Asia Travel Services.

This follows the retirement of Marilyn J. Lewis, who has been in business for the past six years.

Mdlulwa is an enrolled lawyer who joined the Tourvest family in 2019 as Director of Commercial Law at Tourvest Travel Services, with industry leadership experience and operational expertise.

“There is little doubt that this business will be in excellent hands. Akona's appointment ensures continuity. She is a veteran member of the Tourvest family and has extensive experience and knowledge in the wider sector and business. We look forward to seeing this business take advantage of the incredible tourism potential offered by the corridors of Asia and Africa,” says Lewis.

Mdlulwa holds LLB at Fort Hare University and holds PGDIP in Commercial and Business Law, as well as a variety of short course certificates in finance and leadership.

“Aside from daily life and breathing tourism, I have a strong interest in African fashion and choral music and am the mother of a busy toddler boy,” says Mdlulwa.

Luvhengo Neswiswi, CEO of Tourvest Group, thanked Lewis for the first time participating in Tourvest in 1997 as a regional finance executive focused on the travel sector.
