My mother, flying from Tenerife to Bristol, was removed from the plane by police as the incorrect card machine failed to pay Pringles £7. Anne Marie Murray, 55, was shocked after police were called by flight crews because she was unable to pay her bill. The incident occurred on Ryan Air Flight on March 28th, when the card machine did not accept payments.
The passengers had no cash so she couldn't pay the Pringles, who had already eaten. Three police officers arrived after landing and placed Murray at the back of the van. The airline says the decision to call police was taken away after “passenger became destructive.” But Murray said she was not destructive and “no voice spoke up.” She explained:
They tried it on another machine and still offered to get cash when we landed, but they said I couldn't do it. ”
Her partner asked the crew members if they wanted to get Pringles back, but they said they didn't have to return them and they were told they had been eaten the potato chips. Murray added: “I thought it was a joke when the crew said they had called the police.
“When the police came on board and asked me to leave, I was shocked. It was so embarrassing. I did everything I could to resolve it.
“Then they told the police that I refused to pay, but it wasn't. I wanted to pay, but my card didn't work and there was no cash.”
The Gloucester woman was visiting the Canary Islands with her partner for a 4 night mini break and flew home when the incident happened.
