New alerts from foreign, federal and development offices (FCDOs) have changed official travel guidance in France.
Millions of people travel from the UK to the country each year, and fresh advice suggests that some people may need to contact a travel operator. The full alert was “After the Eurostar and some French train services were confused and objects were discovered on a truck near Paris Gare du Node.”
“This includes all Eurostar services between Paris and London in both directions, including RER, Regional and TGV services. Please check the operator's advice before your trip.”
Elsewhere, travelers will recall current passport rules. As France is part of the Schengen region, anyone traveling with a UK passport must have a “issue date” within 10 years of the date of arrival.
The “expiration date” of the document must also be at least three months after the date you plan to leave the Schengen area.
Those with a UK passport can travel without a visa to the Schengen region, including France, for up to 90 days in 180 days. This is if you are visiting family and friends, taking vacations, attending business meetings, or traveling for short-term training or studying.
The advice continues. “A visit to Schengen countries 180 days before your trip will count towards 90 days. If you exceed the 90-day visa-free limit, you may be banned from entering Schengen countries for up to three years.”
