The groundbreaking partnership as a Botswana Mashigame Reserve brings wild spirit to elite British rugby along with Bristol Bears
Mashatu has become the first private game reserve to sponsor a professional rugby team in collaboration with English club Bristol Bears for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
This innovative collaboration combines Elite Ragby and the African wilderness with the shared values of community, sustainability and the Maverick spirit.
Located in Botswana's northern Tourigame Reserve, known as “Giants Land,” Massau straddles 42,000 hectares of untouched, privately owned and preserved wilderness. South Africa's private gaming reserve features the largest elephant herds, featuring famous predator sightings, ancient baobabs and untouched landscapes, offering a gorgeous safari experience.
“We've been working hard to get the most out of our business,” said Mark Kelly, director of Mashatu Investments. Beyond traditional game drives, Mashias highlights an immersive safari experience, including safari walks, photo hideouts, nights under the stars, and cultural community visits.
“This partnership is about creating meaningful impact. As part of the same ownership group, both Mashite and Bristol Bears share a deep commitment to community and sustainability.”
From Bristol Youth Program run by the Bristol Bears Community Foundation to Mashite conservation and local empowerment initiatives in Botswana, both organizations are based on the same foundation.
“We're looking forward to seeing you in the future,” said Gavin Marshall, CEO of Bristol Sports and a member of the Bristol Bears board of directors. Like Mashatu, our community sits at our heart, and we share the same vision, inspire and leave a lasting positive legacy. ”
Bears fans can experience a variety of exciting activations throughout the season, including the opportunity to compete to win a safari experience at Mashite's luxurious accommodation.
Wendy Du Toit, director of Mashatu Nature Resirce, said:
“Mashit has a mission to encourage adventure and promote sustainable change. Whether supporting wildlife conservation and empowering the community, we share a common vision. This collaboration celebrates the power to unite two worlds to inspire what is possible.”
