Marriott International has confirmed its strong pipeline of growth across Africa and plans to add around 50 new hotels, resorts and safari lodges over the next few years. Cape Town, Senior Vice President of Development in the Middle East and Africa, spoke at the 2025 Future Hospitality Summit Africa highlighted the growing appetite of investors for hospitality development, particularly in high demand markets such as Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tanzania and South Africa.
The world's largest hotel group currently operates around 150 properties in Africa, with over a third of them in South Africa, primarily under Marriott branded Protea Hotels. The next development phase will introduce approximately 9,000 new rooms, including the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge and the soon to be released in Kenya Ritz-Carlton Masai Mara Safari Camp. The Marriott has also confirmed plans for Morea House in Cape Town, a signature collection hotel, as it continues to expand its presence in both the continent's urban and experience-driven travel segments.
