Johannesburg, April 1, 2025 – South Africa's premier airline, Airlessburg launched its direct airline in Cape Town Gaboron on its first flight.
Gaboron is a key regional trade and investment destination for the minerals, resources, automobiles and technology sectors. The city also hosts the South African Development Community (SADC) headquarters.
As a leisure tourism gateway for many of the world's most famous Game Lodge and Gaboron Game Reserve, Gaboron and its modern and efficient Celestokama International Airport play an important role in this sector. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, the sector directly contributes 4.7% to Botswana's GDP, but its broad impact is projected to account for around 12% of GDP by 2034 through the effects of investment, supply chain and induction.
“Cape Town and Gaboron are both important regional hubs for business and leisure tourism and commercial. By adding this route to a steadily expanding network, we are meeting the growing interest and demand from local and international long distance services for direct air link services between the two cities.
“We are also responding to calls to provide seamless connectivity to customers traveling between the numerous long-haul destinations reached through international partner airline flights at Gaboron and Cape Town bases.
The new service is currently operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at the next hour.

Airlink operates a modern 44-seat Embraer E140 Regional Jet Air Cuff along the route. Economy class fares include a free 20kg baggage allowance. However, full fare economy (Y-Class) tickets include a 30kg free baggage allowance. The on-board customers will receive free light meals and snacks. Our cabins are designed comfortably for generous footwear and seating options in the aisle and windows. Airlink aircraft do not have a central seat. All Airlink customers are also eligible for a 15kg sports goods allowance.
