Kwazulu-natal is poised to carry out a significant increase in winter tourism this July due to mild climate, holiday timing and a calendar of packed cultural and entertainment events. The Kwazulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority expects domestic arrivals to increase by 12-15% compared to 2024, contributing to an estimated R500 million direct tourism spending. The flagship attraction will attract more than 55,000 participants on July 5th, Hollywood Bets Durban, along with the Durban International Film Festival, Durban Film Mart and the Simon Mab Nu Sabela Awards. These events position the state as a hub for both visitors and the film industry.
Key regions throughout the state have reported growing interest in visitors, with strong booking activities on the North Coast and Drakensberg receiving attention. The South Coast Sardines' running and growing adventure tourism provided further boosted the arrival. Local tourism partners, including Enterprise Ilembe and South Coast tourism, cited a revival of demand from the domestic market, and signs of international curiosity have returned. From fashion and film to natural glasses and school festivals, KwaZulu-Natal has been doing well in one of the most active winter months of recent years.
