Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will hold its first World Music and Tourism Festival from July 16-18, 2025, and will host a joint effort between President Felix Zisekedi and the United Nations Tourism Government. The three-day event aims to position DRC as a cultural tourism destination, and is engraved in Congolumba, which was engraved on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2021. The festival features global music performances, industry circles, guided tours, food fairs and river excursions.
Beyond entertainment, the festival supports broader tourism goals under the UN tourism agenda in Africa. It aligns with efforts to explore music as a driver of destination promotion, youth innovation and cultural exchange, amplify brand Africa and promote North-South cooperation. In response to the growing global interest in music tourism, the initiative represents the strategic moves of the DRC to diversify tourism offerings and contribute to inclusive growth across the sector. Registration will end on June 27th, 2025.
