Cruising experts have revealed four things they always request immediately when they settle in a room. Matt Hockberg, who shared insights about the Royal Caribbean Cruise blog post, explained that these four steps would make his stay more enjoyable. Matt said he would ask for his name before asking anything from his attendants or crew.
He explained: “The crew are from all over the world and it's easy enough to know how to say most names without asking. But it can be difficult to know how to say them properly. Even if a name appears to know how to say it, they may say it differently. He said he asks how to pronounce their names before repeating them loudly to avoid embarrassment.
After this, if this is possible on the cruise you are on, you should ask to clean your room at night. This would stop him from feeling like he was rushing in the morning to get out of the cabin, Matt said.
“I prefer to make a bed before going to bed. There's always a chance I'll take a nap during the day, and then the sheets will be ruined again before going to bed,” he said. Describing herself as one of the closest experts on Royal Caribbean Cruises, Matt added that cleaning the room in the evening is often more convenient as guests are usually present at dinner or shows.
The extra towels in the bathroom are something he always asks, he said. “By default, the cabin only has two shower towels. It's fine for solo travelers, but it doesn't last 24 hours when someone is washing their hair.”
Requesting extra towels ensures that they never run out later and eliminate the argument of who used all the towels, he explained.
One of the “best family cruise tips” is to book two connecting rooms, Matt revealed. This will provide the kids with another space, add extra bathroom and add more living space. He added that suites can also be cheaper from time to time.
Matt said: “Usually, when you enter the cabin on the first day, the connecting door between both rooms is not unlocked, so we ask you to unlock it. Additionally, if you are connecting a balcony room, we ask the balcony divider to unlock it.”
