Travel experts have revealed that travel from the UK to Africa's largest country will be cut far more than 2024 than this summer. It revealed that the average flight price to Algeria this summer is 364 pounds, 12% less than the same period last year. Traveling to other African countries will make you even less. On average, for flights to Marrakech in Morocco, they need to kick out 179 pounds, while Tunis in Tunisia needs to 358 pounds. A little more on a trip to Cairo, Egypt, and will return £462.
According to TripAdvisor, Algiers is a city with a rich history, including Moorish mosques, Ottoman-style palaces, designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites, French colonial houses, modern Boulevards, and more, including Moorish mosques, Ottoman-style palaces and designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. “The city has many attractions, including the Great Mosque, the National Library, Martyr's Square, the Bardo Museum, and multiple monuments and forts.”
However, some parts of Algeria are deemed unsafe by the British government. The Foreign, Federal and Development Office (FCDO) has designated to advise travel within 30 km of the border with Libya, Mauritania, Mali, Niger and Tunisia (Iriji and Ouargra provinces, Chambi Mountains region). Additionally, officials are advised on everything except essential travel within the remaining 30km of the Algerian border with Tunisia.
The FCDO also highlights the high threat of globally impacting terrorist attacks that affect the UK and its citizens from groups and individuals who view the UK as targets.
Travelers are urged to remain aware of their surroundings at all times.
The government added: “Terrorist attacks often focus on Algerian states, but attacks can target foreigners indiscriminately.
“There is also the risk that lonely actors will target foreigners. You should always be vigilant and follow the specific advice and instructions from local security authorities.”
According to the FCDO, the threat from terrorism is rising in some parts of the country, FCDO said:
“There is a concentration of temptation risk” southern borders, Libya and Tunisia borders, especially the northern region and Sahara between Tunisia and Algiers
Authorities said: “Algerian authorities continue to implement effective counter-terrorism operations to disrupt terrorist activities, but there is a continuing threat of further terrorist attacks.
“The main terrorist threats come from al-Qaeda of Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and other Muslim groups in other regions, including al-Murabitun and Dash affiliates. There are also threats from individuals inspired by Dash.
“These groups operate nationwide and pose a threat to all of Algeria, including Algiers and other major cities.”
