Indian operator Indigo has signed a wet lease agreement with Scandinavian low-cost carrier Norse Atlantic Airways for the only Boeing 787-9 to commence service in March.
Indigo added on February 6 that “exploring opportunities” is open to “contracting additional aircraft with the Nordic Atlantic.
The only 787 will arrive in India for a while in February and will be open in Indigo for six months. The carrier says the contract can be extended up to 18 months, subject to regulatory approval.
The announcement comes weeks after the airline confirmed its intention to add widebody aircraft earlier than expected. There are already 777 pairs of wet leases from Turkish Airlines, but in 2027 you will only receive your first owned widebody aircraft from the solid commitment of the 30 Airbus A350-900S.
Media reports have previously suggested that Indigo would lease six 787-9s from the Nordic Atlantic and deploy the type to European flights. Indigo did not disclose its 787 network plans in its latest statement.
