France has revealed the interior of a new high-speed train worth 3.3 billion pounds. Authorities say they will start working from 2026. The fifth generation TGV stock was announced earlier this month by national passenger rail operator SNCF Voyageurs and manufacturer Alstom. So far, 115 TGV M sets have been ordered at a cost of 4 billion euros. The designer states: “The flow train represents new experiences in the rail environment, from the front of the train to the internal fixtures. This concept reflects Alep's commitment to train ecological ambitions and post-carbon design.”
“The flow is based on simple ideas. Unlike other means of transport, trains pass through the landscape and are slightly carved like a river flow. Therefore, the concept is regenerated with a fluid horizon that passes through all the elements, giving it a horizontal line, reinforces the perspective and evokes the surface of the water.
“The idea was to take a fresh look, introduce lasting breaks in the railroad world, and resuspend the technological and industrial environment to create a bubble of softer, more personal comfort in shared spaces.”
