British holiday makers love traveling to Spain for many reasons. The sun and warm climate, gorgeous beaches, rich culture and of course incredible food. The beautiful destinations are one of the most visited in the world, but there are many cities like Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville who don't get the same love as the more popular ones. Destination expert Eddie Fiegel revealed her honest opinions about all major cities in Spain on the Telegraph list, especially.
With just over 189,000 people, San Sebastian is rated 10 out of 10, and may be the “perfect city.” The hotspot, known as the “Basque Country Crown Jewel” may be small in size, but it offers a wealth of activities and events it offers, and has not stopped it from establishing its status as a well-known tourist destination for its hosts.
The bustling city is also highly recognised in its incredible food scene, boasting “one of Spain's most concentrated Michelin starred restaurants” and a tapas bar. It is no wonder San Sebastian was the ultimate holiday spot for Spanish royals in the early 20th century.
Today, the city welcomes many celebrities, including Cate Blanchett, Andrew Garfield and Johnny Depp. Many of these world-renowned figures will clash with Spanish destinations during the San Sebastian International Film Festival in September.
Events take place all year round, but during the summer, the San Sebastian Jazz Festival takes place. This is Europe's longest-running jazz festival and two weeks of musicals in August.
But when it comes to San Sebastian, we can't forget its stunning beaches. This city has four sandy stretches in your own personality. So, whether you want to relax, play sports, surf or swim, there is a beach that is especially perfect.
Concha Beach is the city's most visited city, boasting stunning scenery and white sand. The concha stretches for 1.5 km and offers incredible views of the city.
A visitor on Tripadvisor said, “It's a beach and great! It makes lovely soft sand, lots of space, beautiful design. A great walk along the promenade.”
Another addition: “No matter what time you visit San Sebastian (it's better off in the offseason), but make sure you take a sunset walk at Lancha Beach every time you come.”
This gorgeous yet small city has everything and therefore requires a spot on your bucket list.
