Solo trips can be amazing. You can move at your own pace and make friends when you go with locals and other travelers. But there are also some drawbacks – solo travel can be lonely and if you're a woman, going it alone can be more dangerous.
Solo traveler Lydia Swinscone traveled alone to over 30 countries. She wrote to Marie Claire about all the tips and tricks to help you have the best time. Lydia said one thing she never does during her solo trip is heading to a place where there is no accommodation.
She writes: “When I backpacked with my peers, I rarely made plans and flew from town to town without a bedroom reservation for the night. But when I go alone, I have to be smarter. I don't arrive at my new destination without booking accommodation first.
She added that she was always booking trips during the day to book trips. However, it is inevitable that you will arrive in the evening, especially if your flight is delayed, so Lydia encouraged solo travelers to book a registered taxi company and took you to the accommodation.

Another veteran solo traveler, Fiona Spinks, founder of Folong Fiona, told Express.co.uk that there are things she can always leave when traveling alone.
“The expensive gems are one of the things I always leave behind,” Fiona said. “It's not worth losing it or worrying about theft.”
She also makes sure she is prepared for what could come up with packing a small first aid kit on her trip.
