British Airways and Iberia Parent IAG have revealed orders for 71 wide body jets from Airbus and Boeing. This is trying to replace the old long range type and grow a fleet.
The latest orders announced on May 9 include the 32 Boeing 787-10 and the 21 Airbus A330-900 twin jet for the British Airways.
IAG also notes that in March this year, six Airbus A350-900s were placed in Iberia with six A350-1000s and six Boeing 777-9s.
The aircraft, announced on May 9, are expected to be delivered between 2028 and 2033, with 35 being allocated as replacements for existing aircraft, and the remaining 18 being allocated for growth, according to the IAG.
The 787-10 is powered by the GE Aerospace Genx engine, and according to IAG, all A330Neos are powered by the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engine.
The new deal has 10 purchase rights in 787 seconds, with up to 13 purchase rights listed for the A330-900S.
British Airways will have 11 787-10 in its fleet and will take two more from its previous order. Already working 18 A350-1000.
Iberia has 22 A350-900s in its fleet and has three more issued from previous orders.
The IAG had already placed solid orders for 18777-9 in a 2019 deal, which also included 24 options. The A330Neos will be the first of IAG.
