I went to a beautiful island 4,000 miles away – it's full of foreigners | America | Travel

I recently spent two weeks in the Cayman Islands and found out that many British people have chosen to cross the pond and bring life there.

The Cayman Islands are made up of three islands in the Western Caribbean. The largest island (and what I visited), Grand Cayman is known for its beach resorts and scuba diving/snorkeling spots. Cayman Black is a popular off-off point for deep-sea fishing excursions, and Little Cayman, the smallest island, has a huge range of wildlife. The beautiful Caribbean locations enhance stunning beaches, healthy lifestyles and ultimately quality of life. The famous Seven Mile Beach is probably the cleanest beach I've ever seen, with crystal blue seas and no trash on the premises.

The boat allows you to easily navigate around the island and reach a variety of spots such as Hitora Fish Point, Stingray City, and Ram Point.

While there I swam in Stingray, seeing starfish close by and personal. We also sampled local rum and tried out the popular drink known as mud slides made with vodka, Kahlua, Bailey's and ice cream.

The food contained plenty of fresh fish, and mahi mahi was often the catch of the day, jerk chicken, and many acai bowls.

The island's culture is a true convergence of British, Jamaican and the Afro-Caribbean influences. Family, religion and respect are their central values, mixed with spoken dialects, and English is the official language.

I was there on my days off and it was easy to see how people enjoy living there. It's appealing to those looking for a slow, relaxed pace and the charm and healthy presence of fresh food and easy life, but of course there's a big kicker.

Money: The cost of living on the UK's overseas territories is very high due to a variety of factors, including the cost of importing agricultural products, high demand, and the need for desirable amenities in the thriving financial sector.

Cayman Island's remote location and small size significantly increase the pricing of imported goods.

But I have never seen many beautiful sunsets and have never seen so many stars at night, so anyone would like to go and get the chance to experience the place – the people were also very friendly.
