Whether people are aware of it or not, the airport is a very important part of the traveler's holiday experience, as it is the first place of the destination you step into. For many people, it can really set the tone of the holiday. However, according to Travel Vlogger Karl Rock, one particular airport shines from tens of thousands of airports around the world after branding it as “the most beautiful in the world.”
In a short YouTube video, he asks viewers, “Have you ever seen an airport like this?” He reveals a scene from a modern terminal with dangling plants, lush walls and an indoor waterfall. “I feel like I'm in Singapore or Dubai here,” adds Karl, walking through the gorgeous terminal.
The airport in question is Kempegowda International Airport, which serves Bengaluru, the capital of India's Karnataka state. The specific feature of Vlogger is terminal 2 at the airport, which began operations in January 2023.
Sharing the same video on Instagram, Vlogger praised the device in the caption. He writes: “The terminal design features a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal, featuring spacious interiors flooded with natural light and efficient passenger flow systems.
“Buying cutting-edge technology and sustainable capabilities, Terminal 2 enhances the airport experience for travelers while minimizing environmental impact.
“Its contemporary design pays homage to local culture and history, reflecting Bengaluru's dynamic spirit and aspirations as a global hub.”
The stunning terminal was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, a Chicago-based architecture, urban planning and engineering company.
It spreads over a huge 255,000 square metre area of 255,000 square metres, designed to accommodate up to 25 million passengers each year. Tourists passing through the airport are amazed at the gorgeous architecture and nature that make up the terminal.
Terminal 2 will have a second phase of construction. This is planned to increase capacity with 20 million passengers a year. It is expected to be completed in 2028.
