The American YouTuber, who has traveled to all 54 countries, reveals his three favorites and shares travel tips and practical advice for those who want to visit the continent. Content creator Drew Binsky claimed to have visited all 54 African countries, prompting the breakdown of five favorite visits in September 2022.
Drew said the list will surprise and shock visitors to Africa, saying, “I might even be able to book a flight here to experience the adrenaline rush for myself.” Tanzania has come up above the list of Drews' places to visit in Africa, saying that the Hutsbe trip is “the coolest people ever.” The second Ethiopia said Drew said he was “obsessed” with the country and Namibia completed the top three lists.
Tanzania
Tanzania, East Africa's country with a population of over 66 million, is Drew's top pick in the African country, and it's easy to see why from the video. The YouTuber said he was on his fourth trip to the country, which he “can't get enough of this place right now.”
After stolen Hatzebe, one of Africa's last hunter-gatherer groups, Drew visits Serengeti National Park, where he discovers the migration of zebras and Wild Territories. He then traveled to his iconic Gnorongoro Crater in northern Tanzania, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
He said: “I have never seen a crater in my life so big. I mean it will last forever.” Drew also took Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's largest independent mountain, and then, according to Drew, won Zanzibar, some of the “most beautiful beaches in the world.”
Drew said: “If you can only visit one African country, let's become Tanzania. It's safe, the streets are clean, there are no scams. Everyone is very nice and speaks English.
Ethiopia
Over 128 million Ethiopia came in second on Drew's list as she praised Drew's “many amazing cultures.” Drew said he visited the East African country nine times because he urged other tourists to go outside the country's capital, Addis Ababa.
Drew said he visited attractive areas outside the town, including the eastern Daledawa and the old town of Harrah, a UNESCO site full of “Somali culture.”
He said: “You have Lalibela. This is the formation of the rocks of the ancient Chitistians. And speaking of religion, Ethiopia is divided between Muslims and Christians, and they have a truly interesting field of Christianity.
The YouTuber visited Tigray in northern Ethiopia, where he enjoyed a fantastic hike to the Christian church carved into the mountains. He also visited the town of Ganda, which has a large Jewish population in southwestern Ethiopia.
He said: “Ethiopia has the best food in Africa. The best coffee in the world is there. I can keep going about Ethiopia many times.”
Namibia
Finally, under 3 million Namibia completed Drew's top three. Located in southwestern Africa, this country is the second most dense country in the world, after Mongolia alone.
Drew said: “This is one of the only places in the world where you can find beautiful sand dunes that intersect with the ocean.
The YouTuber visited Etosha National Park before traveling to Windhoek and described it as “a cool capital.” Drew said: “People are so nice and friendly, and they speak great English.”
Finally, Drew visited Sosus Frey. He said the dune trees have “incredible properties.” “And of course you have the Himba tribe near the Angola border in Namibia,” added Drew.
“They have clay hair, and they are very cool. I love visiting African tribes. It's so rich and so amazing to appreciate their culture and traditions.”
