The woman has been praised for refusing to give up seating in the plane window so that the seven-year-old can “enjoy the scenery.”
The 27-year-old explained how he traveled on a six-hour flight to attend work meetings and confirmed that he would book her seat in advance two months in advance.
She was “a little uneasy” on the plane, so booking a window seat helped ease concerns.
The woman wrote on Reddit:
“When I got on the flight, I found a woman (probably in her mid-30s) sitting in her seat with my seven-year-old child.
“I politely said I had a 21A (window). She asked if I would switch to the center seat so my son could get the window.
“I said sorry, but I paid specially for that seat and really preferred to keep it.”
So the woman came back to her saying that her son loved looking out the window and asked her to consider swapping.
“She again asked if I could be kind once and 'make a child's day',” she said. “I said no again, adding that I had concerns and had an extra payment to choose my seat. She rolled her eyes, but eventually returned to her original seat (2 rows behind me).
“Flying was awkward. She kept giving me dirty looks whenever I woke up. I told other passengers that she “don't know how to become a decent person.” ”
After landing, she tells her friend all about the situation and is shocked to hear her take the woman's side by saying, “You should smoke it for a few hours.”
Wanting to know if she was wrong, she took her to social media and asked users what she thought.
In response, one user stated: “You're not wrong, but the other women are certainly. If she wanted a window seat for her son, she should have paid for it.
Another user added:
The third user said, “The “decent human” would reserve a seat suitable for the child, rather than expecting someone else to give up on it. You made an extra payment. She might have done the same thing.
Another user added. “The mother may have been great and not stressed. Her child didn't get a seat in the window. She and her child should smoke it.”
