Italy never fails when it comes to food. People travel from all over the world to reach around authentic Italian pizza and pasta, possibly to finish with negroni and tiramisu.
One man travelling the world to try the best foods claims Florence is a must-see for trying the best afegato desserts – an Italian dessert with a scoop of gelato or ice cream topped with espresso. Offered at the Vivoli Artisan Ice Cream Shop, a stone throw from Santa Claus, it has been in business since 1932 and is still very popular today.
The family who founded the dessert shop sees a huge line of people lined up the street to get a taste of the famous dessert. Thanks to its success, there are ice cream parlours in New York and Orlando as well. However, Jack, an American, better known as Jack's diet, wants to try Afegato in its original location and shares his verdict.
He said: “They fill it with world-famous homemade gelato and then newly brewed Italian espresso.” He shared that they earned 17,000 a day and charged £4.46 per dessert. “It's like the Italian bank there,” joked Jack.
Sharing more insights, Jack added: “The fourth generation owner was literally born in the shop.” He asked how to eat dessert, and the owner insisted that you should never mix. Instead, you take a small amount of gelato and dunk it into the espresso to give it the perfect taste effect.
Jack shared his reaction after pushing the treat run, saying, “Holy s***. I thought it was good, but that's actually incredible.” “I think this is in the official White Girls Michelin Guide,” he joked.
“The homemade custard cream gelato is very good,” he added. “Get the warmth of espresso… the combo is insane.”
Many people said that once you get Afogato in Florence, you won't be able to stop thinking about it. One of the people who tried the place said, “Don't go here, you'll spend the rest of your life craving for it.”
Another joke, “Eight years ago I chased this perfection and was disappointed every time. Don't do that. You won't know peace.” “Vivoli's Afegat is so good, he's not exaggerated at all,” agreed another.
“I think about this Afigato almost every day,” another fan of Dessert said.
The other said, “It came out of a stone window. It must be legal.” “Afegato is very good,” they insisted on each other. “I want to go to Italy just for this,” another said.
