For many, hotel stays are considered a luxurious escape from everyday life, but the claims of one hotel worker may shatter this illusion.
A hotel employee posting on a travel forum as a Reddit user blew whispers about the harsh reality of hotel room cleanliness in a viral social media post.
They exposed the often overlooked aspects of hotel cleaning routines.
A shocking revelation of workers began: “Most hotels don't wash large duvets, they just wash sheets,” and in one facility, white duvets only cleaned if there is visible stains I made it clear that it was done.
But as employees described practices in their new work, the revelation became more unsettling.
“The hotel I've just started is even worse. They have brown quilts that literally never get washed,” a surprising claim came, reports Daily Records.
The whistleblower did not stop there, detailing different standards from different regions.
“And I think it's not common in Asia to have a topsheet in your bed, so you're just supposed to make a dirty duvet into a raw dog,” they continued.
“At least in the hotels I worked in Europe, I can hold myself between two sheets and I can't touch the big blanket when I'm inside.”
This eye-opening confession has published discussions about the cleanliness of the hotel and raised concerns among guests around the world.
“Every time I go to a hotel, I can't touch these blankets.
They claimed that the pillows could be equally dirty, so it's not just items that the duvet remains unwashed.
“Also, the pillows under these pillowcases are filthy and covered in yellow/brownish spots, but in Korea I only saw that,” they said.
“What I've seen in the past looked more waterproof. I'm laughing.
“And now I'm wearing my flip-flops in the shower like it's a shared bathroom lol.”
Others took part in the conversation through their own experiences. One commenter stated:
Another shared some rather unsettling insights. “We used to do network installations at hotels. You shouldn't move the bed. You shouldn't know.
